The Oregon Trail Democrats strive to make a difference in our local, state and national government.

Who We Are

The Oregon Trail Democrats living in Clackamas County (mostly) area surrounding Sandy, Oregon- in House District 52.  Our meetings are in Sandy, but our members come from Boring, Dover, Cottrell, Cherryville, Eagle Creek, Estacada, Brightwood, Welches and even Rhododendron and Government Camp.

Where We Have Been

We began as a small group of PCP’s (Democratic Precinct Committee Persons) gathered together some time ago by Pat Ryan and Walt Trandum.

We worked to organize and elect Democratic candidates in an area where that was not popular.

Today we are recognized around the state for our activism in putting up candidates signs (Yea for Dick McQueen and cohorts!), for knocking on doors (Go Suzanne VanOrman and Brent Barton!) and writing cogent letters to the editor in local papers.  We have a team trained to sign up children for Oregon’s Healthy Kids Program.  We phone for candidates, we study issues and we spread the word in various energetic ways and means.

We believe in the interconnection of all Americans and we are trying to build healthy communities right in our own neighborhoods.  When issues come up for votes, you can count on our working on the side of children, elders and those with disabilities.  We work for small local businesses as well as schools and libraries.  We belong to the Sandy Chamber of Commerce and we participate in the Sandy Mountain Festival Parade and festivities.
